Pillow Covers

Painted Pillow covers are a quick and easy way to spruce up the decor of a room. I found some very inexpensive throw pillow covers at the store, and purchased 12" square pillow forms to use with them. If you can't find pillow covers, it may be easier and less expensive to sew them yourselves. The covers you see here, are not around pillows, for picture taking purposes, it was easier to take them like shown.

To make these pillow covers yourself, follow these simple instructions:

  • Purchase or make your own pillow covers using white cotton or poly cotton fabric. Machine wash first, in case of skrinkage.
  • Iron on your favorite transfer, making sure to center.
  • Use your favorite fabric paint to paint in all specified areas. Don't be affraid to experiment!!! Use colors that will enhance your decor or that of the person you are making the pillow covers for.
  • Once the paint is thoroughly dry, iron cover and place on 12" square pillow form.
  • The nice thing about using covers, instead of making permenant pillow, is that you can take them off and wash them when needed, without washing the pillow itself, which may cause distortion of the pillow.
