Why Goddess

Why Goddess?

Everyone envisions a distinct and individual image of the Divine...

Is God an elderly Caucasian male with a flowing white beard?

Is God a fat, smiling, yellow-skinned Buddha?

Is God a genial character with the head of an elephant,
who is worshipped by Hindus as Ganesh?

Is God Red?

Is God Black?

Is God an Aboriginal?

I mean, who is God...REALLY?

To me, the Divine is energy; the force behind it all. Since energy informs everything in the universe, all life bears God within it. We are all made of the same stuff!

In our earnest quest to limit this concept to one we can visualize and understand, we put different faces on that which has no face. We seem to need a point of reference for something so amorphous, so we describe God in terms recognized by our individual cultures.

Unfortunately, all of these "familiar" images in our culture are MALE. We have spent most of our lives on a spiritual quest, attempting to figure out why we didn't feel comfortable or honest with any of the images we have been presented with.

And now, in the middle of my life, I have finally discovered the terrible truth -- sisters, WE HAVE BEEN CO-OPTED!!!

WHY is God seen as male?

WHY are women's bodies considered dirty?

WHY has everything reverent about being female been distorted and disparaged?

Why were women burned for the "crimes" of healing, midwifery, wildcrafting of herbs, and other areas of female knowledge and skill???...

Get ready to reclaim what ancient societies knew and celebrated...

God is a woman!

Embracing the archetype of the Feminine Divine can be tremendously empowering for women. To see ourselves in the image of God is to reclaim our birthright.

Our ability to give birth and to nurture, our wise blood, our compassion, our instinctual knowing...all of these are sacred. Through identifying with Goddess we reclaim that which has been reviled. Through identifying with Goddess we awaken our sense of our own innate beauty and power. Through identifying with Goddess we become co-creators of our world and we touch, with reverence and joy, the heart of the great mystery.

That Power, who is defined as Consciousness
in all beings, reverence to Her, reverence
To Her, reverence, to Her, reverence, reverence...

That Power who exists in all beings as Energy,
reverence to Her, reverence to Her, reverence
         to Her, reverence, reverence...

That Power who exists in all beings as
Loveliness, reverence to Her, reverence to
Her, reverence to Her, reverence, reverence...

That Power who exists in all beings as
Compassion, reverence to Her, reverence to
Her, reverence to Her, reverence, reverence...
