July 22
Today I went into the garden and felt like planting some seeds. It was cool for a change and overcast. I've been away for two weeks and the garden has been fending for itself. I did some clean up. The angelica has died back and the aphids have disappeared, they don't seem to be anywhere else in the garden, I hope they are gone for good!
My sunflowers have started blooming, and the second clemintis has also begun. It is very similar in color to the first one. The pink and white one has yet to bloom, along with any of the other vines. The flower bed also needs some clean up. It looks a bit worse for the wear. I think the roommate's cat has been laying on things. I planted catnip onflowergarden summer photo the other side, away from my flowers in hopes they would be more interested over there and stay out of the garden. I need to go out there and clean things up, they'll look a lot better.
The nastrusiums are in full bloom, but they look a little gnarly. Not sure why. Haven't noticed any bugs. I'll look again when I get out there.

Today I cut back the chocolate mint, harvested. But I'm not sure how to use it. I'm drying it, because I don't know what else to do.

I planted some seeds today, carrots, cucumbers and summer lettuce. I don't know it the cucumbers will do anything it might be too late for them but I desided to try it anyway. I planted them in a different spot and have set out my beer traps to kill as many slugs as possible before the seedlings emerge and get feasted upon.
The basil is doing great, all that I started inside are doing very well. The seeds I planted are still struggling. I plan to try making pesto in the next day or so. Basically I want to cut the basil back because it is ready to flower, I've been picking the flower heads off as they appear.
The beans are happening, the bee balm is blooming and the apples on the neighbors tree are ready. I made apple crisp the other night. Yum!
