For Adrienne
... there could never be too many tigers on this page for you!!
You are my best friend, as dear to me as a sister. I would not have my dreams without your constant love, support and belief in me. Thanks for being someone I can count on always, who knows the deepest parts of me, and loves me always. You are a treasure!!
Adrienne and I met in late 1992, but it was in January of 1993 that we really began to become friends. Who knew that we had so much in common? We just went to get some pizza and suddenly we found ourselves sharing some of our scariest secrets and feeling perfectly safe.
We have learned that we had a lot in common.
A love of:
- opera
- family
- travel
- shopping
- giggling
- manicures and other spa treatments
- brunch
- chocolate
A dislike of
- waiting in line
- having to exercise
- traffic
- living several states apart
Her friendship was the answer to a prayer and a dream that I hardly acknowledged to myself!
Today, more than 5 years later, she is more like a sister to me than a friend. We have been through job changes, broken hearts, family challenges, and traveling together (not as easy at it sounds). We are committed to standing by each other in all things and being honest always. I can, and do, tell her everything. I trust her with all that is precious to me from my family to my deepest dreams and goals. And I have the priviledge to hold her dreams just as dearly. I can't imagine what I would do without her support. There is nothing like having someone in your life who always believes in you, cheers for you, and fights for you. We are that and more for each other.
Being honest hasn't always been easy, but we have learned that our friendship can withstand anything. And even when we go for a while without being able to call or see each other, we still manage to feel connected.
For my 29th birthday, she took us to Fort Lauderdale. For her 29th birthday I gave her 29 gifts - age appropriate for each year, including Maybelline Kissing Potion for her "10th" birthday. She brought me the Women's Weekend and I showed her the value of running up a down escalator. She taught me to knit. I introduced her to romance novels.
In December 1996 she was my maid of honor and sang at my wedding. I married a man from her home town.
In December 1997 I was her maid (matron - but I hate that word) of honor. Her wonderful husband loves her laugh and she loves his cats.
She will be there when my children are born, and I will be there for hers.
We have also had several opportunities to take vacations together. One trip took us to Hawaii for 10 days - an amazing destination (Adrienne returned therefor her recent honeymoon!!). But there is one special vacation that we count the days for. And on August 7 we are going for our 4th trip. If you click on either of our favorite heroines below (mine is Belle, Adrienne loves Snow White), she'll take you there…
And you can visit Adrienne's home page, too. It's been a while since she updated it, but the story of how she met and got engaged to her husband is wonderful!!!
And speaking of hubands... these graphics are in honor of Adrienne, Doug, and their cats Sidney and Bouf
