The Letter

To the Post Office I went today, my dear,
I went there yesterday, too
And the day before, And the day before,
Seeking a letter from you.

There was nothing from you today my dear
Nor was there one yesterday.
And the day before and the day before,
Empty handed I turned away.

But tomorrow I'll go again my dear,
And the next day I'll go there too.
For if I go there often enough, my dear,
One day there'll be one from you.
