September 6th - Day 13 - Edmonton to Drumheller

Left Edmonton this morning for Drumheller, Alberta....land of the Canadian dinosaurs! The road (R21) cuts through fields of hay, and later grain, and seems like an unending ribbon of concrete. The sky is hazy; the land golden. Rolls of hay dot the fields waiting to be stored for winter. It is hot!

Turning east toward Drumheller, the land is suddenly cut into deep canyons. These pictures were taken at Horseshoe Canyon. I am now entering the Canadian "Badlands"

The solitude of the land strikes me the most. The farms that are miles from neighbours, and the people, particularly women, who might be isolated there. And of course, the badlands which are more compatible for old dinosaurs than for humans.
