September 10th - Moose Jaw to Brandon
Manitoba
Drove through most of a rainy day,
stopping at a motel for the night because of the
downpour. I picked a motel off the TransCanada thinking
it would be quieter, but a biker just roared through the
parking lot! If God (and others!) do not grant me a
peaceful night, may I at least learn patience and
compassion through it.....but I'd prefer the peace and
quiet! The past three days there have been two great thunder and lightning storms. Margaret Rowe (My friend and mentor who died August 7th, shortly before I left home) comes to my thoughts, and the thunder and lightning that dramatized her funeral. Before that I hadn't thought about it as a "spirit voice", and a positive one at that. Perhaps because we have so few thunder storms in Port Alberni. My mother used to tell me that it was the angels, bowling. Another, more ominous image, was that of an angry god casting lightning bolts at the wicked (which of course, included me!) At the funeral, people told me it was an indication that Margaret was happy in her new life. I like that one best. It's amazing how many people from BC I'm meeting. Yesterday there was a couple from New Westminster driving to Toronto to visit their daughter. A few people have been from the Cranbrook or Kelowna areas. |
