September 17th - Midland
Our plans to go to Saint
Marie among the Hurons were
changed as the Police closed the highway due to a
standoff with drug dealers! So we went shopping! After
lunch we went to a Museum and Huron Village in the
town of Midland. It was well presented, with explanations
about Huron life as we walked through a replica of a
village. What strikes me about the First Peoples is how they lived in harmony with the land....where ever that land might be. They used what the land had to offer to sustain life; to create art and culture. Why do we build a society based on greed and consumerism even tho it ravages the land, air and water....the things we need for life? |
