Journal - Before June 25, 1999

These are my journal entries from my previous site, they date back to October 1998.

June 25, 1999
Well, I have done very little work on my site since I last wrote. For the first time, after almost a year of web page making, I got tired of it and needed a break! Hard to imagine that such a thing could happen! :) During that time, however, I was working quite a lot on a new web site of mine. I am rather excited about that site. Anyway...why is it so difficult to really get in touch with people online? Am I too suspicious and picky or are people online just plainly pretty shallow? Probably both. During this year and a half that I have had internet connection, I have gotten to know 1 person that I really like and 2 persons whose chat company I have kept enjoying after two or three chats.

I had to give up on frames, Geocities' banner just wouldn't allow me to have them in any timely manner. :( As much as I like Geocities, I hate that banner of theirs. It causes so much bother! I am thinking about moving my site again though, to my ISP's server. We'll see. Yuk! I am sick!! :(( I am never sick, pretty much, so whenever I am I feel it is very unfair. (Which of course isn't true, rather it is unfair that I am not sick as much as most other people.) Well, I haven't been this sick in five years or so, maybe more. I can't remember! I have had a high fever for three days, but I wasn't positive I had it because I didn't recognize it! :) Not until this morning when I woke up and felt how peaceful my body felt (without the high fever), did I realize just how feverish I must have been. I am feeling better, but not good. Just had to whine a little. ;)

I am soooo tired. It is 3.02 a.m. and I have spent several tedious hours reorganizing my subfolders. So now it will be easier for me to upload image sets. It took a lot of work though. I had to go into every single file and change the pathways for the images. But that was the easy part. I really wonder sometimes, how I manage to procrastinate things (such as putting frames on this site). It seems I just can't get around to some things. All I need to do is make a few more graphics, change some files and change some names. But instead....no. I am too tired to write comprehensibly. Gotta go to bed! Good night!

I have never been able to rid myself of the fear that the 3:rd World War will start in 1999. This is because I have up until recently been very easy to scare with superstitions and the like, although I rationally never believed in them. I used to spit three times if I saw a black cat cross the street. (No kidding...) I heard as a child that this woman had successfully predicted the years the 1:st and 2:nd World War were going to start and that she predicted 1999 for the 3:rds' start. But I never heard of a 4:th. Which really is kind of strange, come to think about it. Anyway, needless to say, I will be relieved when 1999 is over, in spite of myself. It will be a weight off my.... well off my brain, because I have always lived with this fear and never really been able to convince myself it is foolishness. I am trying to change my site to frames. This is no small feat. I have to get new graphics for most of my pages. And I can't get bordered backgrounds :(. It needs some pondering. I have already started adapting however. At the same time I am trying to publish my garden page. That has proven to be a ton of work, if anything. Much more so than putting my site in frames. Well, now I shall stop rambling for this time. :)

December 10, 1998
I have been surfing a lot of home pages lately. That is nice. I get ideas and inspirations. I am still not done cleaning up my site (this page being one of the "dirty" ones) but I have more than half of it done. I am going away this weekend, so I can't work on my site until Monday :(. But I am not complaining because I know I will have even more fun where I go! I can't believe it is so warm here still! Michigan is supposed to be cold. We haven't had any snow yet! And there are still days warm enough you don't need to wear a coat outside or even have to open the window a little to cool it down inside.

Just surfing around tonight. I thought I could stop by at my site and share my thoughts with myself. Renovating my site takes a long time and is awfully tedious. When I am done, I'll probably realize something else that should be done, and have to go through all the pages again. What is tedious is that I have an English and a Swedish version of pretty much every page, plus text versions of many of them. So editing a page isn't just to go in there and change it. I haven't been through this page yet, but I am through the majority anyway.

I am so excited about a dress I and a friend are going to make! It is a "renaissance dress". I am going to try to make it for Christmas. I want to start on it right now, but I don't have a good pair of scissors... Rather silly really. HTML is a lot of fun, but oh so tedious at times. Like the browser problem. It is causing me a headache.

October 19, 1998
I deleted all of our bookmarks! :( But I didn't delete them, I cut them out and couldn't paste them back in. So I pasted them in a notepad document. So now we have all the URLs (at least) but I have to go to every single site to re-bookmark them... Not good for my mood. I feel frustrated. I ought to post a recipe today but...I just don't feel like doing the tedious work it is right now. Maybe I'll post it later tonight.

October 15, 1998
I wasn't much on the computer today (wow!). I prepared thankyou notes for the wedding instead and wrote a letter to a friend. I am recovering from a cold and I finally slept well last night. And I really slept in... I can't tell you how much... it was too long, but oh so nice! We carved pumpkins today. That was great fun. It was my 2:nd pumpkin ever. I love pumpkins, they are so pretty. I believe they are the one orange thing I like. No... not true, I like oranges too, and carrots. Oh...well...
