Tom Sheffield
Tom Sheffield is a trial lawyer and a native Houstonian. A 1990 graduate of the University of Texas law school, he worked nine long years at Vinson & Elkins before opening his own practice in Houston. While he handles a variety of cases, he concentrates his practice in matters of eminent domain. He has represented landowners and condemning authorities in power line, roadway and pipeline cases in over a dozen Texas counties as well as in at least six of the Texas Courts of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court, most recently in Teco Pipeline Company v. Anderson which establishes the requirements for a company to qualify as a gas utility with the power of eminent domain. His present corporate clients include Duke Energy, Houston Pipeline Company and PG&E. |
