Discrimination

I have been fortunate not to have encountered that much discrimination for being gay. I mean, I have experienced the occasional name calling and have been treated differently by friends. Example: The typical, changing in the stall instead of the locker room because I am around, or I hug all my friends but you type of thing. I just ignore that stuff. One incident sticks out in my head though. I was a senior in high school and going out with a girl that was a junior. My girlfriend had 4 siblings, an older sister, who was the same age as me, two younger sisters, 6 and 10 and a younger brother 1. I had been friends with the older one at one time but once she found out that I was dating her sister, that friendship came to a halt. The older sister would never like to leave me alone with her younger sisters or would never let them sit on my lap. Yet, she had no problem when it came to her brother. I didn’t think much of it at first but then my girlfriend told me that it was because I am gay, she might think that I would molest the children. I thought it was ridiculous, just because I am attracted to women doesn’t mean that I am attracted to little girls. Also, it is proven that being around a gay person doesn’t make someone any more likely to be gay. It has nothing to do with it. People have to realize that fact and stop preventing children from being around homosexuals. It just isn’t fair.
