Amadou Diallo

Above, I have written my opinion on black clubs. While, I still do not believe in clothes like FUBU, my opinion about having organizations to fight racism has changed. When I heard the story of Amadou Diallo, was shocked. I could not believe that right here, in the city where I live, and go to school, 4 cops had shot and killed an innocent man. Then when I heard the details of the story, that they where dressed in street clothes, he was un-armed and they shot at him 41 times, my shock turned into anger. I watched stories of other victims of racist cops on television. One black woman, said that one night she was just sitting outside waiting for her laundry to finish when a group of cops came. They sexually and physically abused her, the whole time they were making racial comments and saying that they wanted to get blacks out of the neighborhood. There was another person on the show that had a touching story. His son, who was about 7 or 8 years old was playing around their apartment buliding with a toy gun. The gun in did not look real at all. The cop yelled racial remarks at him and shot him in the head. These incidents have made me much more of aware of the racism that does go on against blacks. While I still do not believe in racism and segregation, I do believe that if the clubs are for a good cause then they are ok. 5/11/99 1
