Cake
The cake was a joint decision made by Raymond and myself. I had looked through countless bridal mags I had collected since we got engaged, but not one cake stood out to either of us.

Lavinia and I ventured into a cake shop in Penrith and browsed through some of their books, and Lavinia liked a few of them, but I didn't know if I liked them enough. Plus we couldn't get a firm quote, as the lady who made the cakes wasn't there!

A few weeks later Lavinia found a shop in Windsor called "Essential Cakes" that had a lovely little old lady who made special cakes. She ordered one for her fiance, Micheal, for his birthday, in the colours they wanted for their wedding, and they were delighted with it.

She took me along one day and the lady had several books to look through of both modern and traditional cakes. I spotted one that I liked very much, but didn't order ir then, as I really wanted Ray to have some say in this as well. So I dragged him down there on the next Saturday (after looking at the suits) and showed him the picture in the book.

He liked the overall style, as he leaned more toward the traditional cakes, but he hated the style of the flowers in the picture. That was no problem for the lady, who let us mix and match pictures to suit our tastes.

We picked a different style of rose to go on each tier, and found a heart with 2 wedding bands in it that we wished to place on top. We also wanted to have swans on the top (as swans mate for life), but this presented a problem. The only swans she had in stock would be too big to put on top with the heart.

But we didn't have to leave the idea out, as she remembered they make pillars in different shapes, so she got out her catalogue...and yet, they came in swans!!! So we get to have our dream cake after all.
