To Properly cast a circle one must go through a number of steps.  First you must have all the tools necesary.  You need an Atame, sword or wand.  You must have all four elements represented, usually as different colored candles.  You must have the God and Goddess represented, usually as white candles.  You must have physical representation of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.  I use sea salt to represent the Earth, Spring water to represent the water, incense to represent air and matches for fire.  I start by invoking the elements, starting with each element in their respective positions.  East is Air, South is Fire, West is Earth and Eorth is Water.  I start in the East and call the powers of Air.  I say "Powers of Air in the East I call you tonight to join us and watch over us in our magical workings" as I light the yellow candle.  The I move to the South and call the powers of fire.  I say " Powers of Fire I call you tonight to join us and watch over our magical workings" as I light the red candle.  Then as I continue to move deosil to the West I call the power of Mother Earth.  I say, "Powers of Mother Earth, I call you tonight to join us and watch over our Magical workings and Bless all the we do" as I light the green candle.  And finally I move to the North and call the powers of Water, I say "Powers of Water, I call you tonight to join us and watch over our magical workings" as I light the blue candle.  Then as the elements are present I move to the alter and prepare to physically combune the elements to aid in the casting of the circle.  I kneel before the Altar and I pour the water into the cauldron, followed by THREE pinches of sea salt, I then stir the combination three times deosil.  Next I combine the fire and air by lighting the incense with the matches.  Next I take the Cauldron and starting in the East I walk deosil around the circle, sprinkling water and saying repeatedly "By the power of Earth and Water I do cast this circle of power so that we may work our magic.  Not in the world of man, not in the world of spirit, but between we cast this circle of power so that we may work our magic this circle of power is cast".  Once I return to the East I return to the altar and replace the cauldron and pick up the incense, again, starting in the East, I allow the smoke from the incense to move around the perimiter of the circle as I say "Powers of Air and Fire I do cast this circle of power so that we may work our magic.  Not in the world of man, not in the realm of spirit, but between so that we may work our magic this circle of power is cast". Once I have returned to the East position I return to the altar and replace the burning incense.  I next take my Athame and move to the east position.  I point my athame to the outer edges of the circle and begin walking deosil saying "Power of Spirit, I do cast this circle of power so that we may work our magic, not in the world of man, not in the realm of spirit, but between so that we may work our magic is theis circle of power cast".  Once I return to the East position I move back to the altar and replace the athame.  NOTE:  As you are casting the circle withg the lement and the spirit you must be able to visualize the circle being cast in the form of a large orb around you and as each element is used you must visualize that color light forming a protective shield in the shape of the orb.  Now the circle itself is cast.  The only thing that remains is to invite deities in.  As you kneel bfore the altar, you must invite whatever deity you are calling, I usually say something like "Oh Goddess, I invite you to join our workings this night, come in perfect love and perfect trust so that you may lend aid to our workings, protect us as we work and allow us to honor you as you deserve to be honored" Then I light the Goddess candle and allow a moment for you to feel her presence enter the circle.  Next you must call the God that you choose.  Again I say something like "Oh God, I call you to join us this evening as we work our magic and lend balance, protect our workings and allow us to honor you as you deserve to be honored".  I then light the God candle.  the the circlenis cast, the elements are present, and te deities are with you, you may beging your magical workings.
