Demeter is the Mother Aspect of the Triple Goddess. When her daughter Persephone was kidnapped by the God of the underworld she went on a reletless search for her to no avail. After searching hard and long she appealed to Zeus to intervene. The God of the underworld argued to keep Persephone as his own. Zeus concluded that persephone would spend half of the year in the underworld and half the year on earth. While Demeter was searching and being sad about her daughter the world was without beauty and life. When demeter saw her daughter again the world was once again filled with beauty and life. Demeter represents rebirth and regeneration. |
