It is a sad day today.
Kim, Bill's wife & my sister-in-law, has passed away. She fell in her bathtub 2 weeks ago, and few days later she was hospitalized, trying to fight multiple brain aneurysms (bleeding in her brain). She had undergone 3 surgeries. After the last one she slipped into coma and never regained consciousness.
We all saddened by this tragic death and keep Bill and their 2 kids in prayers.
Unlike in my culture, people here don't dwell on sadness. They know, that person transitions into a better place, free from pain and worries. They remember the good things about the person, and quickly move on, offering each other moral support.
This would be considered insulting and insensitive back home. However, I understand now the difference. Most people in America are very spiritual. They believe, with all their heart that only body dies. Spirit, on the other hand, lives on. It goes to a better place. They mourn for short time, but then they move on, knowing that the person, who they were mourning, wouldn't want them to get stuck in the past.
