Sunday 6 June 1999

Home time! Going home started with Leonie heading off first just after 6 to catch her 9:00 am flight. There is a direct bus from the hotel to the airport which runs every 15 minutes so getting to the airport is really easy.

Nicki was able to go back to bed for a bit as her flight was not until 12:55. Yes, we were flying back to London on different planes and via different routes! Leonie was flying in to JFK catch a transatlantic flight to Heathrow. Nicki was flying direct to Heatrow. Although Leonie had to set off four hours earlier, Nicki was due to arrive 5 minutes before hand - so we arranged to meet in the baggage claim.

Leonie's route took her through some of the bad weather in central America and she suffered from turbulance. Nicki headed northwards over Canada and had bright weather all the way over.

Infact Leonie came in 20 minutes late but we joined up to have a slap up breakfast before heading off to our respective homes - Leonie in a taxi to St Albans and Nicki via National Express to Wakefield. Leonie beat Nicki home on this part of the journey!

It was good to be home, but I think we both wished we were still in San Francisco. We had had the most fantastic week. We had seen and done so much (and taken millions of photos to prove it) and can both recommend to anyone that they try and visit at least once in their lifetime. We have been left with some fantastic memories, and if you ever want to know where to go and eat if you get out there, you know who to ask...!
