SATURDAY - What a journey!!! I left Wakefield Coach Station at 2:10 am on Saturday morning. My plane left Heathrow at 9:00 am. I had a great seat on the plane - on the exit aisle - so I could stretch out my legs. The guy who was sat next to me was 6'8" so he was grateful for the leg room as well!

I arrived in San Francisco at noon local time - which was 8:00 pm UK time. I was welcomed at the airport by Leonie who was already well aquainted with local culture. I had a two hour nap at 3:00 pm - my first experience of sleep since I left Wakefield!

When I landed, the mist was completely covering the city, and it wasn't till we went up to the 46th floor cocktail bar later that evening did I finally get chance to see the city.

The Hilton hotel is HUGE - check out its website. It is the largest hotel on the west coast of US!

After a few cocktails and a bite to eat at Japanese cafe across the road, we turned in at 10:00 pm and had a good long sleep.

This morning, we awoke to bright sunshine. We have just had a LARGE american breakfast at a local diner and are ready to hit the shops - with sunglasses on!

San Francisco is an interesting city - its strange to see it in 3-D after looking at so many maps before we came out. It is very hilly. I have already seen the Cable Cars travel up the very steep hills and no doubt it won't be long before we are travelling on them ourselves - if we can fight off all the pesky tourists!!!!!

We are going to do as much exploring as possible - there is certainly lots to see. And then of course there is STAR WARS! I think that may be tonight or tomorrow night. It is a National Holiday today - so the place is quite busy - just like Bank Holiday!
