SUNDAY- Our first full day together started off with Leonie celebrating the end of the conference - and three days of serious jet lag. Nicki, however, at this point was wide awake and bright as a button - much to everyone else's disgust!

We then headed for the shops! Macy's department store is as big as Ossett! There is one whole floor just for shoes!!!!! Heaven! We could only stay so long before we overdosed and had to find somewhere for a bite to eat - sat outside the Chanel boutique no less!

The Gap store is as big as Horbury! And they have their own internet terminals where you can check out their stuff on line (why you would want to do this when the real thing is all around you we don't know) but the kids seem to enjoy it.

We then found Sephora ! This is girly utopia! We had died and gone to heaven! Forget Harvey Nicks and Boots - this is where you can worship the great god of cosmetics. We will be back there! - Get your orders in now, girls.

San Francisco turned into Alton Towers later in the evening when we took the cable car down to North Beach. We were there, hanging on the rails, just like in the movies! Nicki did get a bit worried when we took a 90 degree turn to the left and she didn't think she was going to make it! Leonie, on the other hand, was an old pro at this game, having already ridden the ride whilst tour guiding her work colleagues round the city earlier in the week.

We ended up in what is like little Italy. North beach is full of Italian restaurants and coffee bars and we had a fantastic dinner at a very smart restaurant - Basta Pasta. We had a bottle of the local plonk - Napa Chardonnay no less - which went down very nicely thank you - but just a little too quickly!!! We will move up to two bottles tonight!!

We had to get a taxi home as we were both stuffed - the hills are too steep to risk in this condition!

And tonight? The Force will be with us .....
