WEDNESDAY - After a Jewish Deli breakfast, we hiked up to China Town and gazed in wonderment at all the tat, some tasteful!, including a shop selling Sanrio - Japanese kids stuff - Hello Kitty!!! You MUST have a look at the site!! However, since coming home, Nicki has discovered that teenagers can get hold of the t-shirts at Miss Selfridge - even Toyah on Coronation Street can be seen wearing Hello Kitty and Badz Mazu t-shirts! We then walked through North Beach, had a look at the Art institute, Lombard Street and where Tales of the City was set. We then set off in search of the Aveda Salon in Pacific Heights - a few miles later !!!! we found Leonie's beauty parlor - and they tried to revive us after our treck. Pacific Heights (as in the film) is the Chelsea of San Francisco - very upmarket and full of beautiful people driving open top porsches. The Cable Car Museum was visited on the way back - very interesting! - really!! There are three levels of safety brakes before the cable car careers down to the bottom of the hill. I you check out their website you can play at driving one of the cars! Back to the hotel for a soak before Dinner in China Town - We had a fantastic meal in a restaurant full of Chinese - must have been good. Although we didn't order a lot, they brought us enough food to feed the Kosovos! We then back to the hotel bar on the 46th floor to work through the cocktail menu - Sea Breeze - Margarita - Manhattan - Strawberry Daiquiri - Mudslide - Mai Tai etc ... Accompanied by a wide range of music from Frank Sinatra through to Depeche Mode! It was easy to fall asleep after all that walking and drinking! |
