praying to a single adult
Lord Jesus
do you understand
what it means
to turn on the televison when you come home
so that there is conversation in your house?
to fall asleep clutching a pillow
that doesnt hug you back?
i skipped another party last week
because i knew i would be the only one there
without a significant other
yesterday i switched radio stations in my car
because i didnt like the song
and the same song was on another station
and i flipped the stations back and forth
smiling because the stations were not syncronized
and i turned to the passenger seat
looking for another to share the laugh
and no one was there
and i knew that in describing this later
i would not get the same smile
you had to be there.
again, i wished i had someone to share this all with.
