This is our beautiful Catherine, born in the BiCentennial year of 1976, she was our first born. She was a good baby, cried very little and made being a new parents very easy for her father and I. Catherine had and still has a very pleasant sweet personality. And, as we soon discovered was intelligent as well. She was a delicate child, petite in stature and tender hearted. Once her hair began to grow, she developed a full head of beautiful blonde ringlet curls, which she still has today. No permanents for this young lady. She always needed to be clean. If she went to play in the sand box, she wanted clean clothes when she came inside. She asked to have her hands washed and wanted more than one bath a day. I can't honestly say that I know why she was like that but we indulged her most of the time. She had a passion for reading from the very beginning and we read to her often, even when she was an infant. It all began with picture books and progressed from there.. Reading was a habit instilled in me by my mother and I carried it through to my own children. Nary a day went by that she wouldn't go to the bedroom, even as a toddler and get a book and bring it to me and we'd have to sit down in the rocking chair and read. Many a time those fairy tales and Disney stories sent a weary infant to dreamland in my arms. Sometimes, I didn't have the heart to get up and take her to her bed and risk waking her, so I'd lay the book down, and close my eyes and nap with her. To this very day she loves reading and has an extensive library of her own with books of every type........from romance to fantasy thrillers. That makes it easy to believe that, not only does she love reading, she also loves writing and she is very good at it. Catherine was an excellent student and excelled in nearly everything she tried from Speech to Algebra. She loved World History and Literature. English was her favorite subject. She was not a physically strong person so sports were of very little participatory interest to her. She was an excellent spectator and cheered on her school teams every chance she got. During her high school years she was Statistician for the Wrestling team, who won several State titles. She was very talented being musically gifted with a beautiful soprano voice, but she did not have the desire to be the center of attention, so that is a gift she shares with those of us who love her. Even those moments are special treat. In her early teens she began to have an interest in art and started with pencil sketches which eventually led to watercolor painting which she does to this day, without benefit of an art class of any kind. Her artistic strengths come from her fathers side of the family.....they have the artistic ability.
