My Dad, "Papa Joe" to his grandchildren
and to all the neighbor hood kids,
left us on May 18, 1995.
He had fallen in the night
and broke his hip.
He was operated on,
but never came home from the hospital.
He loved children, and music, and "food",
and his beloved Sally.
He couldn't wait to sit in his recliner in the fall
and watch the "Buffalo Bills " on a Sunday afternoon!
And in the summer, he was out
sitting in his driveway, talking to everyone who passed by,
with a big grin on his face, and a funny story to tell.
He enjoyed many years of
watching my son , Joey, play little league baseball.
He worried more than the coach!
for his Papa the week that he died.
Joe performed this many times live,
as the lead singer in his
alternative rock band.
It was always dedicated with love, "to his best friend".
"JMP"
They say some days are better than others;
How 'bout an unfortunate reuniting of brothers ~
Living on in another world for his own needs,
His laughter on which we feed...
An ending of another life's many blessings,
A Best friend.
Wish I had the chance to say goodbye.
Wish I had your wings, to know how to fly.
Wish I could be, be with you somehow,
Wish you could be, be with me somehow.
~~ words and music written by Joe Brace and
performed live on stage by "Flatline"
in Buffalo, NY 1995 -1996.
