The Jackson Women's History Council announces its annual high school essay contest to celebrate the many important roles of women in history

THE WOMEN OF JACKSON ON WHOSE SHOULDERS WE STAND
The contest is open to all high school age students.
All essays must be submitted to the Jackson Women's History Council by Friday. February 13, 2004.
Typed essays of 500 1000 words in response to this topic are welcome. One original and one copy of the essay should be submitted on white 8" x 11" paper, with a bibliography. The writer's name, full address, telephone number, school grade, and age should be submitted on a cover page accompanying the essay, and not listed on any other page
Essays to be judged on the basis of knowledge of subject matter, originality of ideas, development of point of view, insight, clarity of expression, organization, and grammar.
High school students who wish to enter the art contest should research and/or create a composition in two-dimensional format that presents this year's theme, with originality and vitality. Artists should seek to portray to the viewer an immediate correlation between their composition and the work of women leaders, pioneers, and rebels of the past, and the benefits that we now take for granted in the year 2004.
Deliver essays to: Brail Dry Cleaners, 405 West Prospect, Jackson, MI 49203. Deadline is February 13, 2004.
The Jackson Women's History Council Essay Contest Prizes will be announced on Friday, March 5, 2004 at the annual Susan B. Anthony Award Celebration at the Cascades Manor House.
All essays and artwork must be submitted to Jackson Women's History Council by February 16, 2004. Winners of both contests will be notified by February 25, 2004.
