What to Pack for the Hospital
For You
Bring your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, comb or brush, makeup (if you wear it), shower cap and rubber thongs for the shower. Make sure you do not forget some snack food like hard candy, or dried fruit. You may want a snack at night with your juice. Fruit will make your bowel movement easier. You also need to bring slippers with rubber soles for walking around, three or four pairs of panties, two or three bras, hair dryer (if it is okay with the hospital), robe, cotton nightgowns, and clothes to go home in.
For Baby
You will need clothes for your baby to wear home, and a blanket or snowsuit if it is cold outside. Most importantly, you will need a car safety seat. Babies must travel home from the hospital in a car seat. It is the law in all 50 states. Don't forget to buckle your baby in the car seat every time you travel by car.
