Get enough folic acid and other vitamins and minerals in you food because it protects your baby against birth defects and helps your baby develop. Foods like dark green leafy vegetables, beans, asparagus, orange juice, whole grains, and cereals are best; vitamin and mineral pills help make sure you'll get what you need. Vitamins won't make you gain weight, make you feel hungry, or take the place of a good diet. Also make sure you get enough fruits, vegetables, and grains because it will be more nutrition for you and your baby, plus less fat. Eat healthly servings starting from the bottom of the food pyramid.
