Tanya has lived and worked in Wenatchee's music circles for almost 20 years, including numerous plays, concerts, and weddings. She has worn many hats in the past years, serving as an advertising manager, music department manager, and has even worked for Wood and Things in Wenatchee.
She has recently joined the BAND BOX MUSIC COMPANY as their sales manager. Tanya is anxious to implement new ideas, and is bringing a lot of new products into the store. She is looking forward to serving Band Box customers with a smile and a desire to help them with all their musical needs. The Band Box has faithfully served NCW for 35 years, through thick and thin and ups and downs. A lot has happened over the years, many changes, and the continual introduction of new technology. Her intent is to keep up with the times, better yet, improve upon the times, by offering excellent service, and a personal touch to interacting with musicians and those interested in music.
One of her growing concerns is the number of people who purchase musical equipment and supplies through the mail and in discount warehouses. She would like to see musicians and parents return to supporting their local music stores. Our local music stores are here to support the school band and orchestra programs and to be involved with the community in a variety of ways. Shopping through the mail, while sometimes less expensive, is intensely impersonal. And one never knows what one is getting. Not to mention that mail order business does not support the local merchants. She encourages people support the music stores in the Wenatchee Valley by shopping locally. That way, there will still be music stores around for the upcoming generations. A place to come and try out instruments, peruse the music bins, pick up supplies and catch up with the latest local happenings. AND get their guitars, violins, cellos, basses, and other band instruments repaired. "Make time for music!" encourages Tanya…
"I think our busy schedules and hectic lives sometimes rob us of the things we value most; our families, getting together with our friends and neighbors, and spending time learning something new. Making time for music not only uplifts and encourages us, but in some cases is the answer to our own personal growth. "
Tanya's other loves are her three children, hiking in the Cascades, and poetry. She loves to write and has been journaling for most of her life. She spent two summers at the Haystack Summer Studies Writing Conference offered by Portland State University. She has published a few of her poems.
