Paul Julius Roy was born July 28th, 1941, the first of nine children to Paul F. and Iva H. Roy, in Montgomery, Alabama. Excelling in all things electronic, after a two year tour of duty in the United States Navy, Paul attended the Southern University of New York to study advanced math and physics, then erned his Associate's Degree from John Patterson Technical College in Alabama.
He began his 33 year career with IBM in 1965 as a Customer Engineer, and after taking many classes through the IMB college, he advanced to a position as a Hardware Programmer. This career moved him to Rochester, Minnesota, in 1975, and finally to Austin, Texas, in 1980, where he was working on advances in system start-up technology. He was the holder of many U.S. Patents in this field.
Paul was also a charter member of the Williamson County Astronomy Club (formerly Round Rock Astronomy Club), where he held various active postitions over the years, and shared and furthered his love of the stars.
He was survived by his two daughters Kari Noser and Kristin Roy; his mother, Iva Roy; his four brothers Thomas, Mark, Joseph and Michael Roy; his 4 sisters Carolyn Burch, Margaret Clark, Dorothy and Johanna Roy; amd many neices, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul F. Roy. He is deeply missed by many.
