Victory!!! A heavy burden has been lifted out of my mind!!
I heard my own heartbeat via the stethoscope and what's even better, I could
hear the pulse when taking BP (blood pressure) readings!! Wheeeee!!!
Well, to be fair, I couldn't hear the pulse all that clearly but at least, I heard
something! :) Next time, I'll concentrate even harder! The encouraging thing was that
some classmates, who had the tutor by their side using the 2-way stethoscope to listen
to the pulse together, said that the tutor's stethoscope was of a better quality and they
could hear it very clearly, as opposed to using the stethoscope they provided for all students.
What sweet comfort!
One tip that really helped me hear better was to make sure that the earpiece of the stethoscope
is placed right at the opening of the ear canal so that the sounds would be directed directly to the
eardrums. No doubt it means much ear discomfort and even pain sometimes, but it's the best
method of detecting sounds. It made a whole lot of difference to me when I positioned the earpiece
correctly. :)
