Juliet & Kyla
Me and Kyla (right after chemo)

My name is Juliet and I am 27 years old
I am the mother to two beautiful girls Kyla (3) and Savannah(7). I am married to a very interesting man who loves to do crazy things with his body, like jump out of airplanes, ride 100 mile bike rides, wants to do the Eco-Challenge, etc. These are the things I found
attractive in him when we first met, now I just shake
my head in wonder.

Kyla was diagnosed in September of 1996 with an inoperable brain stem tumor, after two months of me taking her back and forth to the doctors, and insisting that I thought she had a brain tumor.
Kyla went through 5 months of high dose chemo,
which almost killed her. Her dad and I researched tirelessly until we found a treatment we felt could
save her, and if nothing else, wouldn't hurt her.
In March of 1997 on a wing and a prayer we loaded
up the car and headed to Texas to see a doctor
by the name of Burzynski.
Kyla started that treatment and has been on it ever
since, racking up a bill that is currently 157,500 dollars.
As long as she continues to received treatment the money is of little matter. Some parents save for college,
we chose to save her life.
Kyla is one happy little girl. She loves our kitties
(kiwis as she calls them) and one of her favorite things
to do is torment her big sister Savannah.

Savannah is a great big sister, taking all of this in stride. She loves Kyla and does everything she can to treat
Kyla just as she would of if Kyla didn't have cancer
Savannah is an extremely creative child. Her brain
works on a completely different level than most
people's do. She was even voted "best writer"
(stories) for her 1st grade class. Savannah has a definite problem with authority. She will argue with you about anything you say, even if you can prove it. God helps the man that chooses to spend his life with her.
He better be able to stand his ground...

I am a very opinionated person.
I fancy myself to be a writer and have published a couple of articles. I am trying to write a book, but can't find the peace and quiet to really buckle down and do it. Half way there though... I have been on my own since I was 16, married at 19, first kid at 20, second kid at 23.
I lost my mother to cancer when I was 11 years old so I am bound and determined not to lose my daughter to it.
I like company, but I also like solitude depending on my moods. Everything has to be on my own terms in my
own time. I can be a person's best friend, but if someone turns on me I don't forgive. I am somewhat emotional
(gee, can you tell?)
I WANT TO TRAVEL!!!! My dream trips are to Australia, New Zealand and Ireland/Scotland. I intend in this life time to do the pub crawl tour of all of these places.

Some of my favorite quotes/song lines:

" I'm sorry 'bout the attitude I need to give when I'm with you, but no one else would take this sh*t from me" Matchbox 20 (Long Day)

"I was given a child with cancer and my heart broke,
I discovered the means to fight and my heart turned
to steel" Me (Juliet)

" I don't sleep that good anyway. If you've never heard that silence, its a God awful sound." Matchbox 20 (Kody)

" There can't be a crisis next week. My schedule
is already full" Henry Kissinger
