Eyeball Potion

8 oz Frozen whipped topping, thawed
Blueberries or raisins
1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 large pkg. gelatin - any red flavor
1 cup cold water
Ice cubes

-Using a small ice-cream scoop, place 2 scoops whipped topping into each of 10 dessert dishes for "eyeballs." Place a blueberry or raisin in each scoop for the "pupil." Freeze 30 minutes, or until firm.
-Meanwhile, stir boiling water into gelaatin in large bowl at least two minutes until completely dissolved. Mix cold water and ice cubes to make 2-1/2 cups.
-Add to gelatin, stirring until slightlyy thickened.
-Remove any remaining ice. Pour about 1//2 cup gelatin around the two "eyeballs" in each dish, leaving the top of the "eyeballs" exposed.
-Refrigerate 1-1/2 hours, or until firm..

Monster Slime Juice

6 oz Pk Kool-Aid*
12 oz Can orange juice concentrate
1 gallon Water
*pre-sweetened Berry Blue.
Mix juice and Kool-Aid, add water, stir and watch it turn green!

Make your  Punch Glow!
Freeze green punch in a gelatin mold add plastic spiders.  place a few small glow sticks under a punch bowl.  Add the frozen mold and punch recipe (see above)-- when the lights are turned down, the brew will radiate in a mysterious and unearthly fashion.

Apple Cider Recipe

Pour cider into medium saucepan. Add cloves and cinnamon and simmer on low for 20 minutes. Strain and our into mugs. Add one slice orange to each mug.

Makes (5) 1 cup servings

 

Dips and Spreads

 

Halloween: green slime

Ingredients:
10 oz Frozen spinach, thawed
4 oz Cream cheese
1/2 cup Sour cream
1/3 cup Mild salsa
2 Green onions, chopped
1 Garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper

Directions:
Drain spinach; squeeze dry.
In food processor, puree spinach, cheese, sour cream, salsa, onions, garlic, salt and pepper.
Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until thickened slightly.
Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Pumpkin Dip

2 cups pumpkin puree
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
Cream together pumpkin and cream cheese. Add in all other ingredients until well blended. Refrigerate overnight. Serve with gingersnaps and graham crackers

Breads

Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

2 1/4 cups flour
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups pumpkin pureé (15 oz can)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
Combine flour, spice, baking powder, and salt in bowl; stir to blend the dry ingredients well. Combine eggs, sugar, pumpkin, and oil in a mixing bowl. Stir in flour mixture, then stir in cranberries. Spoon into two greased and floured 9x5x2-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean

Mummy Fingers (pigs in a blanket)

Cocktail franks halved lengthwise 
Pillsbury Crescent rolls
Wraps hot dogs in strips of crescent rolls and follow baking directions for crescent rolls.

 

Mutilated Main Dishes

Bats and Ghosts 

Cut slices of meatloaf with a bat-shaped cookie cutter, and serve with bat's blood (ketchup).  Add a dollop of 'ghost' mashed potatoes

Frankenfingers 

4 Boneless chicken breasts
1-2 drops green food coloring
1 c Flour
1 Egg beaten
1 c Bread crumbs
Pitted black olives, halved lengthwise
Shredded lettuce

Grease cookie sheet with oil, set aside.

Carefully cut chicken breasts part way to create fingers.  Place strips in plastic storage bag, add food coloring and shake.  Dust in flour, dip in beaten egg and then bread crumbs. Place on cookie shake and bake at 400F or until golden brown and cooked through.  Place olives on tips to look like fingernails and serve on lettuce.

 

Sides

Monster Mashed Potatoes

1/2 pound cooked and mashed white potatoes
1/2 pound cooked and mashed white potatoes (colored green or purple)
1/2 pound cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
6 tbsp butter divided 
6 tbsp heavy cream divided
salt
pepper

Place each vegetable in a separate bowl. Add 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons cream, and salt, and pepper, to taste to each bowl. In a large bowl gently swirl the mixtures together, making sure that each color remains distinct in areas. Serve hot.

Rotted Teeth

2 cans white and yellow sweet corn
green or black food coloring
after heating corn place a small portion of corn in bowl add food coloring and mix. Return to rest of corn and mix gently. Serve up some colorful rotten teeth.

 

 

Desserts

Cool Whip Grave Yard Dessert
----Crust----
2 cups chocolate wafer cookie crumbs
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 stick margarine - melted
----Filling----
8 oz pkg. fat-free cream cheese
12 oz tub Cool Whip LiteŽ topping - thawed
2 cup water - boiling
2 4 serve pkgs orange gelatin
1/2 c water -- cold
ice cubes
----Decorations----
1/4 cup chocolate wafer cookie crumbs
7 rectangular shaped sandwich cookies
7 oval shaped sandwich cookies
decorator icing brown, green, orange, -- & white
Peeps Ghosts candy

Preheat oven at 350. Prepare a 9 x 13 x 2" pan with cooking spray and
flour. To prepare crust, combine 2 cups cookie crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, and
margarine in a small mixing bowl. Press firmly into prepared pan. Bake
for 10 minutes and then chill. To prepare filling, combine cream cheese,
remaining sugar, and 1/2 cup Cool Whip in a mixing bowl. In another
mixing bowl, combine boiling water into gelatin until completely dissolved.
Mix cold water and ice cubes together to make 1 1/2 cups. Stir ice water
into gelatin until thickened. Remove any remaining ice cubes. Spoon
gelatin over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm.
Spread remaining Cool Whip over gelatin layer. Sprinkle with remaining
cookie crumbs. Decorate as a "grave yard" by poking sandwich cookies on
end into dessert. Decorate the cookies as tombstones with the decorator
icing.   Add Ghosts.

 

Halloween Pumpkin-Shaped Cake

Twice the batter for any cake recipe (or 2 packages of cake mix, prepared)
Twice any white frosting recipe (or 2 cans white frosting)
Food coloring
1 Hostess Ho-HoŽ (or similar cake-roll snack item)
-Prepare two cakes in bundt pans and coool completely.
-Color most of the frosting a deep orangge, reserving about 1/2 cup, which should be colored black (or use dark chocolate fudge frosting).
-Place one bundt cake upside down (roundded side on the bottom) on a cake plate; frost the top only. Place the second bundt cake flat-side down on top of first cake. Frost the entire cake with orange frosting, making up and down motions with spatula to simulate a pumpkin.
-Insert the Ho-HoŽ in the middle of the top of the bundt cake to make the stem. Use black frosting to make eyes, nose, mouth, etc. (Or use candies, gum drops, jelly beans, black rope licorice -- be creative!)

Frozen Jack-O-Lanterns

12 Navel oranges
12 Cinnamon sticks
1/2 Gallon Dark chocolate ice cream

Cut off tops of oranges. Gently hollow out pulp (reserve for another use),
leaving a thick shell; hollow out pulp off tops also. Cut Jack-O-Lantern
faces into each orange. Pack chocolate ice cream into shells, avoid letting
ice cream come out of holes. Cut a hole into top of orange top. Set tops
back on, over ice cream, and inset cinnamon stick stem through the hole.
Place in freezer for at least 3 hours, or until serving time.

Squashed Frogs

1 Stick margarine 40 Large marshmallows (10 oz. bag) 5 Cups corn flakes cereal 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla (optional) 2 Teaspoons green food coloring M&Ms. Plain Chocolate Candy
Preparation : Melt margarine in large saucepan. Add marshmallows and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and mixture is syrupy. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and food color. Mix. Add corn flakes and mix until well coated and bright green. Add M & Ms for eyes.

Witches' Hats

1oz unsweetened baking chocolate squares -- melted
1c miniature marshmallows -- melted
3 tbsp corn syrup
3 c puffed rice cereal
12 oz semisweet chocolate chips -- melted

Preheat oven to 350. In a saucepan, melt unsweetened chocolate and
marshmallows. Add corn syrup. While chocolate is melting, place puffed
cereal in a shallow pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Then, place in prepared bowl.
Pour chocolate mixture over puffed cereal. Stir to coat cereal evenly. Form
into 8 cones, flattening large end to make brim. In a double boiler, melt
chocolate chips. Dip cones into melted chocolate to coat. Place on waxed
paper to cool and harden.

Halloween Spiders

1 (12 Oz.) Pkg. chocolate chips
1 med Can chow mein noodles (may not need all of them)
1 pkg. M&Ms. Plain Chocolate Candy

Melt chocolate in microwave. Stir in noodles.

Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

Add 2 M&M's for spider eyes.
NOTE: Add 2 to 4 tablespoons water, if needed, to thin chocolate.
