This is probably the most asked question of the Divas. Which is not surprising. Usually, when you hear the word 'diva' you think of a female singer with a powerful voice and prescence. But a 'diva' can be a standout at anything. There are many webrings on the WWW for all types of divas....but the ChatDiva Webring is the only 'diva' webring for not only the female who's addicted to chat, but also for the female who excells at it!
It seems like years ago, but in fact, it was only in early 1997 that the ChatDivas came to be. Ebonyfire, who was then known as 'mysteria' and Francie, who was known as 'Franci'(*LOL*) met each other during late nights chats in the cuzzi of the Chathouse. These two devoted civil servants quickly became friends, and established their own code of chat...namely..
1. Always smile and greet all newcomers to the room,
2. Never let any prime opportunity to be a smartass pass by,
3. Comment on all jokes of a sexual nature,
4. Let all men under the age of 30 know that women over 30 do have sex....just not with them,
5. Spend as much time as inhumanly possible chatting, forsaking
the dishes, the wash, the vaccuuming and the kids if need be,
and on occasion, calling into work sick.
These two ladies had a ball running the room and keeping the men in check and soon after, the term "chatdiva" was born.
Other women began to choose the cuzzi as their late nite hangout and they too showed the characteristics(..i.e...smart mouth) of a chatdiva, so Ebonyfire and Francie began administering the oath and inducting more women into their little group.
As the 'little' group started to grow, the group members wanted some sort of insignia or banner for their homepages to identify them as chatdivas, so in November of 1997, Ebonyfire created the ChatDiva webring.
What started out as less than a dozen sites, today numbers 100 sites with 90 members. A tiny ring in comparison to the majority of rings out there....but a HUGE ring when you consider the fact that we all keep in contact with each other. The members range in age from 16-60 and cover 4 continents. We cover nearly every known chat site and communicator. And despite our 'small' membership, we're about to enter our 5th straight month as a member of Webring.org's TOP 100 Webrings in the Internet/Homepages category.
