WE have a lot in common, Corrie. I was the oldest child of a mother who died of cancer, when my brother was 6 weeks old. What I have read of your story so far, I have found very interesting and thank you for telling it on the net for people like myself to read. Here in the UK dissociation is still very uncommon and it is great to read things for people like yourself who ha e the courage to tell your story to help those of us without much support to know that it is not just us and that there are others out there in a similiar position.

I like your web page a lot, and plan to visit some of the others out there too. It is very hard to find a place where it is ok to be dissociative and Christian too. In a way I can understand why that happens, because it took me a while to accept that God id not cause the abuse to happen to me...He gave me the gift to survive it, and to serve Him by helping others.

I have really enjoyed reading your story. There are a number of events in my life, that could have cause my DID, but I was never beaten or sexually abuse. I always thought that I was just weird. As far back as I can remember, I would escape from the world. When I was eleven, my hero, my Dad died of cancer. I could hear him crying from his bedroom, and it seemed like I could feel his pain. The day the ambulance came to rush him back to the hospital for the last time, I ran and hid. I then looked out the living-room window and just cried. My mother didn't cope well with being a widower at the young age of thiry-one, and turned to alcohol instead of comforting us. Every night she would get drunk, and start screaming and crying like a woman possessed! She would even hug up to me in her bed and call me Sammy(my Dad). There's was no one there for me, and I always feel that me, at age eleven, calls for me now, to come and be there f r her. That sounds so crazy, I know. Just like you, I was a Christian, and have always felt like the thoughts in my head were a sin. I'm thirty-seven now, and when life presses me, like it has in the past year, I block it out, just like I learned to do when I was a child. One of me, is the Looker. She is always in search for her real mother. When the Looker surfaces, I look at my mother, and feel like I hate her. The first time, that I realized the Looker, had surface, she even went as far, as going to the county court- ouse, and looking up birth records to see who her real mother was! She also talked to friends of my mother, to try to confirm the fact that she was adopted. Paige, is another. She is sixteen, and loves to dress in black. The Mother comes out alot, Thank God, because I have three children. Then the Writer. This is my most painful. This is when I write. This is when I try to go back. Then there's the fighter. This is the one that gets me in the most trouble. The fighter gets set off very easily. She stands up for my rights. Don't get me wrong. I do not black out. I know everything that's going on. Most of what goes on with me is inside. The only real difference anyone notices, is that I'm preoccupied, and distracted. They might say something to me, and I don't hear them. The thing that bothers me most, is the feeling keeps coming to that the restless souls of the past are the ghost of tomorrow. My mission in life has been totally dedicated to finding peace. My mother, because she didn't look at my Dad, in the casket, went to the funeral home, and inquired about having his body dug up to look at. They said, by law, she could do it. She was going to, until my grandma put her foot down. My mom was just like that. I think she is the cause of my DID. Sorry to be so long winded. SUSAN

I have a friend or two that gets everything wrong with them that is suggested. But for the most part I believe that it was a gift given to me to survive... When I figured it out it was sure scary. I stayed in denial an additional 5 years. Now I am starting to work hard on the integration process and have been working hard on my MPD for 3 years now.
