Hi. My name is Bev Beeson, together with my husband Paul and son we are currently living in Mount Gambier, South Australia. We are Captains (Ministers), Officers in The Salvation Army and we were appointed here in January 1998. Prior to that we served in the Riverland of South Australia for 4 years and prior to that we lived in the Eastern Suburbs of Victoria.
Before my husband and I went into full time Ministry with The Salvation Army I had a range of jobs; I commenced work as a Bank Teller for the Commonwealth Bank, then worked for the Department of Transport (testing Pilots for their Pilot's licence). After our three children were born I returned to part time work and worked in a Hospital starting off as a part time tea lady, then a kitchen hand, cleaner and ended up as the Debt Collector. From there I went to work for a friends Motivational Company that brought out speakers from America, and became the National Accounts Manager.
I was born in Manchester, England, the first child of Margaret and Les Wallbank. We, that is my parents, and younger brother and sister and I, came to live in Australia in 1963 when I was about 7. We lived in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, in Mooroolbark, at the foothills of the Dandenongs. My Mother was a tailoress and I guess I gleaned a lot of my skills from her.
My work with The Salvation Army keeps me fairly busy but in my spare time I like to do craft work, especially Quilting, which is my present passion. I began quilting in February 1997 and have been fairly prolific. I am mostly self taught but had a bit of help from my friend Kate, who operates the Renmark Craft Corner.
