World Wide Web, The Internet

You are looking at an endless resource right now - the Internet. Start book marking (or "favourite"ing in IE speak) now. If you are using a public computer, bring a floppy disk, so you can either save entire web pages to your floppy disk, or at least save your bookmark file to floppy disk. If you can print, you may want to print out any important bits of information in case the site/s you are visiting are not in existence when you try and go back later.

Magazines

Find a large book store or newsagent and spend some time browsing. There's too much out there in glossy land to take it all in or buy it all, but you may find great ideas and something worth purchasing. Keep an eye out for 2nd hand book stores, charity shops, fetes, swap meets and garage sales - excellent places to pick up cheap pre-loved bridal magazines. Tell everyone that you want bridal magazines, you might get some passed on from a newly-wed, as I did.

Newspapers

Newspapers often have weekly bridal lift outs, sections or supplements. In our local paper The West Australian this is on Saturdays. They give you a free wedding guide when you announce your engagement in that section.

Expos, Shows, Fairs, Events, Conventions

In Perth there are two major annual "bridal events", the Perth Brides Show (usually at the Casino Convention Centre) and the Bridal Fair (usually at the Fremantle Passenger Terminal). These are advertised on TV, radio and in the newspapers. Keep your eyes and ears open. Show bags, demonstrations, parades, samples, pamphlets etc. A fun day out and a great way to meet wedding service providers.

Shops and Stores

Lots of hire stores and bridal specialty stores have mailing lists and/or mail order catalogues, so put your details down and watch your mailbox.

People

Talk, spread the word that you're getting married! Soon you will have lots of ideas about dresses, hair styles, head dresses, veils, tiaras, crowns, make-up, flowers. Information overload.

Purchase a divider file or a display book or scrap book. Clip out and keep everything you like and hold onto those business cards.
