Mom had her third neuropsychological exam. This time it was given by a phd student so I do not know if she is as qualified as I would like. The results validated what I have always known, that mom is still early stages. Very intelligent, the examiner was able to once again verify that mom was an intelligent human being and If I say she was phi theta kappa at her junior college, the tests certainly proved that she had most of her vocabular and comprehension intact. She knew every vocabulary word they gave her, she was able to spell backwards and drew a wonderful clock!
Both the examiner and neuropsychiatrist said that they were impressed with her verbal skills. What a surprise, for this they get the big bucks??? I could have told them that and that she did have some more memory loss but as I have said all along she is still continent, she can still appreciate classical music, she can still read but not remember what she reads.
I am the envy of my aunt's caregivers as she has not improved in her cognition when her body got healthier. So when mom's doctors tell me news like this, that a 3hr test couldn't tell me something I didn't know, I am then, not impressed with much else they have to say about her disease.
I did accept the prescription for Trazodone, a tri-cyclic antidepressant for mom. It helps with agitation by acting like a sedative. They just wrote every six hours as needed. Well mom does not need it every six hours, just at bedtime so that she can sleep thru the nite.
Computer Problems. I am so glad that I saw the movie "South Park". I was not much impressed with the language but I loved the win98 crash and the execution of Bill Gates while in mid sentence praising his operating system. I lost all my files, so that meant I lost my email addresses and when I was up and running again, I did try to write the Alzheimer list, but it bounced claiming the address was wrong. Perhaps I have to re learn how to spell Alzheimer?
