Peninah's Page
Peninah Nkadyo was rescued from early marriage by her community in July 2004. She was 9 years old.
This picture is reproduced from The Nation, Nairobi, Kenya - July 24, 2004. Maasai Education Discovery was contacted, and Peninah was brought to Narok.

Peninah is currently living in the girl's hostel opened by MED for sponsored college students. In September, 2004 she began attending Model Primary School in Narok. Having never received an education, she started in Class 1. She now speaks a little Kiswahili and knows her ABCs.

Peninah's younger sister was recently removed from the home after undergoing circumcision. She is now living with Peninah at the hostel and will be attending school with her next term.

Note: I had nothing at all to do with Peninah's rescue. Still, seeing her every day at the school I love dearly makes me feel like I'm here for a reason!
