"Heya, Nuts. What's new?" I asked the tipsy dancer.
"Oooooh..not too much....got laid by our newcomer last night....that was sort of a bonus.." I almost spit out my "drink"; Nutty'd waited for me to take a sip before commenting. I managed to keep from spraying it all over myself; regretably I had not anticipated it's escape route via my nose.
Amid maniacal cackling, Nutmeg handed me a napkin. It muffled my threatening words but the tone rang true. "Do you have any idea of how annoying that is, Oh Fragile One?!" In a cascade of sienna brown curls, she tossed her head back and chortled. Loudly. No one takes me seriously...I sighed.
"Anyways, Hec, you should take him for a ride!! Ummm!Talk about your basic stallion!" Nutty's loud proclamation was drawing a crowd, much to my snickering amusement.
"A good ride, huh?" My facetious tone and cynical smirk only egged that wild child on. One hand caught the uncontrollable mass of brown explosion atop her head, the other pushed the already low neckline of her chiton further into gravitiy's embrace. Momentarily confused, I stared at what appeared to be a line of bruises marching next to the deep yellow of her dress. These "marks" varied in size and depth of color that stood out violentl on her dark skin. With appallingly sudden clarity I realized what I was staring at. And to my eternal disgust I felt the ridges of my face begin to heat and darken in a blush. Now I knew I wanted nothing to do with the visiting letch.
Okay, Nutty, put 'em away," said a sweet but dry voice. A sad blue glow caught and held any eye not currently occupied. Really occupied. Persephone, as beautiful-and as frozen- as winter in flesh had managed to slip her own hostial clutches and join us.
As discreetly as I knew how, I glanced around, half afraid that an unearthly, for want of a more accurate term, glow had followed her. A squeeze of my fingers and a slight shake of Seph's head eased my concerns a bit.I had manaed to tell her a bit of what concerned me; well, to the best of my vocal abilities, that is. A voice that sounded like the wind blew through my head, whispering of his absence. Finally, I was able to relax a bit more; the lack of his presence freeing me.
I had no idea why I was so anti...what ever his name was. I didn't care, either. I have the curse of foresight, but for the most part, or rather, in reference to myself, my black gift is worthless. I have no idea of what I'm trying to say to me until it's all too late. Fun, no? All I really knew was that my senses were screaming at me to stay the lengths of Hades away from him, and it was a cry I was following, my whole heart cooperating. Who ever said that the gods were omnipotent and all knowing was full of himself, and a few other choice items. Humanity is not isolated in flaws.
As I had observed on my entry, it was a loud, raucous party, and everyone, including my solice- loving self had a grand ol' time. It was interesting to note that the guest of honor never did make a re- appearence.
