Hello Darkness
Hello darkness, my old friend
you've come to see me once again...
I've lost my sunshine
the last glimmer of hope...
I see nothing but darkness
a long road of turmoil and unrest...
the sky is dark and the moon is blue
I've lost the love that once was true...
My heart was filled with so much love
I talked to the trees and the birds above...
the smile on my face was tender and sweet
I could do anything without defeat...
The rain comes down upon my face
to drown the smile with amazing pace...
I could fly to the moon in a twinkle of an eye
and now all I do is cry...
The birds would sing a happy tune
but now all I hear is one of doom ...
early morning the deer would linger for awhile
we'd walk together sometimes for a mile...
The squirrels would chatter for all to hear
would tell me secrets they hold so dear...
I'd walk to the pond so pretty and clear
now I look at it in fear...
I would wrap my arms around the tree
listening to them so vibrant and free...
the flowers bloomed with arms opened wide
not a day went by they were not at my side...
The rainbow shone in the sky above
it looks down now to see me cry...
the leaves on the trees were green and gold
the sun was warm but now it is cold...
The light of ten thousands suns I used to see
the skin of a newborn child...
the firm warmth of the brown earth...
precious jewels glistening on the water...
the feather touch of the winds fingers...
the fragile flowers lingering scent...
the hard awesome mountains
everything rare and beautiful...
the melody of love...
the beauty of it all...
I saw you...
I saw God...
I saw me...
The things I held dear within my heart
are gone and so we will part...
Hello darkness, my old friend.
