Smith College 1997

Reunion Over one hundred fearless members of the Class of 1997 attended our second year reunion this May. Many of us returned to Northampton for the first time since graduation. Everyone who made the journey, whether from Massachusetts or Hong Kong, helped make reunion a great success. The stellar turnout (particularly for a "non-milestone" year) coupled with mild temperature, crisp blue skies, and additional record breaking on the Alumnae Fund front made it a phenomenal weekend. There were plenty of events planned (Ivy Day, cookies and lemonade with the Class of '34, dinner with classmates and faculty guests) but many of us felt that the true highlight was the chance to chill out, catch up with old friends (and mingle with new found classmates) in a cherished place. Over beers at Packard's, chats by Paradise Pond and at our informal junk food fest in the Wilson living room there were ample opportunities for us to share our varied "real world" experiences with one another. We relayed funny stories and offered sound advice, helping to create some of our first memories as Smith Alums. Our five-year reunion is still a few years away, but our goal is for it to be an even bigger blast. We would love your feedback on the two-year and suggestions for the five-year. Please drop me a line at any time to share your thoughts. Sara Halpern
