----APRIL 2001----

  Welcome to the Angel Scroll

What's New:

Hi guys! Boy there is a lot going on. As some of you have seen, I have re-designed the site. I hope it's easier to navigate and gives it a more uniform look. Just when I started getting things done, I got into a car accident, so it's slowing things down a little, but I'm trying to do at least one page a day to keep up. Please let me know what you think of the new changes as your opinions are very important to me. You may leave your thoughts at:
My Email
or
My Guestbook

That's about it for now. However, I will continue to update as regular as I can. If you'd like to be continually updated, you may check by going to the What's New page.
Thanks so much for all of your support ... you have truly helped to make "Heaven" grow beyond my wildest dreams!

Kids and Guns At School
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every day when we watch the news you see another report of a child going to school with a gun, and holding hostage the very people he called "friends" yesterday, and literally taking their lives into their own hands. This is strictly my opinion, but I feel the media is helping that out quite a bit by releasing these stories. If you have a child that has already on an emotional downfall and they see these stories a lightbulb is surely going to go off. "Hey, if I do this or that, maybe I'll get attention then. They aren't listening to me any other way." Here in Arizona that's has already been stated by one of those kids. Now how sad is that?
Today's kids, and especially teens, are faced with more peer pressure than anyone sees. Add the element of the fact they are a lot colder than when I grew up. So if we don't talk to them and keep involved in their lives, how could a parent see this coming? They can't. I don't see how one could be so apart from what their kids' lives are like. Stay close and communicate. These kids need to know they can come to you if something is going on. Have you seen the statistics on teen depression lately? Pretty scary! Listen to all the 'little' problems, and at the very least, seem like you're interested in what they have to say. One day when a really big problem comes up, they'll be more inclined to talk about it and get it out. And for goodness sakes, if your child comes to you and says there is another kid bothering them, teasing them, etc., please listen ... one day you just might have the power to stop one of these tragedies.
Another problem I've read a lot about is teens coming out to their parents. More often than not, when a child comes out to their parents, they automatically shut them down ... this is not right. Just because you don't believe in or wouldn't make these choices yourself does not give anyone the right to say or judge how another human must live their life.
The bottom line is, simply be more in tune with your child, especially before they hit the teens. Watch for any changes ... emotionally, physically, appearance, grades, the people they hang around, etc. I know that sometimes this still won't be enough ... but you know what??? It's A Start!
Do you share these same views and opinions as I do? If so, please send me your comments and I will post a "Visitors Comments" section if I get any response.
Thank You's:
I'd like to take this opprotunity to say thanks to a few really wonderful people.
Tom over at The Berry Patch has been a true friend (as always). When he was informed of the accident he kept me in their family prayers. Tom and his wife Colleen have got to be some of the best friends one could ever ask for ... and be blessed with. They constantly keep me encouraged and keep my spirits alive, and Tom makes me want to strive harder on this website. Even when we were just wee little clouds ... and a mess I might add ... he was always right behind me and encouraging me. How can one ever come close to saying thank you enough?? You can't ... but I will always be here when needed. Thanks so much Tom, Colleen & the kids!
Treasures of the Web. This is an online group I proudly belong to. Many thanks go out to them, but especially Catshark. She too sent get well wishes my way, and even sent me a little get well surprise! How nice was that?!? The entire group has went out of their way to make me feel at home when I joined ... as they do everyone. Gifts, welcomes, & lot's of "hi's" were sent along my way. I highly recommend if you join any group on the web, this is the one. Please stop by and pay them a visit ... you could never ask for more.
If you'd like to see the gift TOTW sent me, click here.
Well, that's about it ... until next time. If you would like to contribute or participate in the Scroll, please email them to me.
Many Blessings & Hugs,
Kim
