Women of the past      We thank you As we studied your lives      We waltzed back and forth through time We researched your clothes      Your marriages, your work and your society Saw your lives with our hearts      Felt your struggles and pain Watched you wed, give birth and then,      Sometimes, kill Only when there seemed to you      No other way Women of the past       We salute you We learn from you      As you give us inspiration Your gift from the past          Is ours for the future. by Carolyn Roach December 14, 1999
