Unicorns were fabled to be powerful steeds with pure white coats. Long silky hair flowed from their mane, and from near their hoofs as well. A unicorn’s eyes were normally a deep blue or a shade of pink. The horns on the middle of their heads usually grew to be 2-3 feet in length had an ivory white color, male unicorns could be easily recognized by the white beard that grew under their chin.
Unicorns were very evasive creatures and were able to sense any enemy that sought to harm them, or the forest they protected. Unicorns were immune to death by normal methods, including a resistance to poisons. Being captured by human hands will usually break a unicorn’s spirit and they can be killed easily. To keep this from happening, a unicorn has a special power to teleport to a safer place, usually 1-5 miles away depending on its age and experience in teleporting. They had the ability to teleport up to 3 times a day. They usually allowed travelers pass through their guarded lands as long as they weren’t killing the forest animals for sport or money and as long as no evil is done to the forest. If a traveler violated either of these two conditions, it brought upon the immediate wrath of the unicorn upon the offenders. The fierceness of the attack is determined by the evil they done. Sometimes it is chasing away the offender, and then other times—death. A lone unicorn occasionally allowed itself to be tamed and ridden by a human or elf maiden of pure heart and who possessed good morals and personality. A unicorn that submits in this way and is treated kindly will be loyal for the rest of her life, even unto death.
