Peridot has been mined from St John's Island in the Red Sea for over 3000 years. This gemstone is created by volcanic action and has been found on the beaches of Hawaii.

It's believed to have mystical powers. When set it gold, it is said to protect the wearer from night terrors, and is used to help dreams become reality.  Legand has it that pirates believed the peridot would proctect them from evil.
It's believed to have healing powers, said to alleviate depression, anger, fear, jealousy and anxiety.

It was used by Egyptians, Aztecs, Incas to gently cleanse and heal the physical heart
