Hanggliding in Arkansas

If you REALLY want to soar up in the sky like an eagle, there's only one way to do it! You take up hanggliding. You learn to spread your wings and without using any power but the wind, you experience naturally what humans have only dreamed of throughout history. I've always loved to ride in planes, but I never knew what it really meant to fly until I got into HG. It's an incredible experience, and doesn't have to be dangerous. With the proper attitude, training, and equipment, it can be very safe.

When HG started in the late 70's and 80's, it earned a reputation of being very dangerous, even suicidal to some. And rightly so. Accidents were frequent and often disastrous. But back then, the gliders were primitive and there was no formal training or regulation. Modern glider wings are engineered with the same technological principals that give airplanes their aerodynamic stability.

Today's gliders are responsive and essentially become extensions of the pilot, begging to fly. But the biggest thing that makes the sport so much safer these days is proper training. HG is regulated now by USHGA - the United States Hanggliding Association. USHGA is a non-profit organization with chapters in every area of the United Sates with one purpose - to share and promote safe HG and dispel the daredevil image. Pilots are trained by certified instructors at reputable schools and go through a well-structured learning program. Click the USHGA link on the right to contact USHGA and locate an instructor near you. Or email me. It's fun and inexpensive! Why wait?
