Southern Friends

Porch-swing philosophy is a grand Southern tradition!
Most of my Southern philosophy I've learned from friends.
If you have never taken a road that leads to the South
you are missing some of God's greatest land!

Eudora Welty told me Southerners love a good tale.
They are born reciters, great memory retainers, diary
keepers, letter exchangers, letter savers, history tracers
and debaters, and outsaying all the rest, great talkers.
Eudora knows me!

Another close friend, Mark Twain,
advised me to keep away from people who
try to belittle my abitions.

We all know a little rebellion
now and then is a good thing!
My great friend Thomas taught me that.
Thanks, Mr. Jefferson.

"In the moment of death, the Confederacy
entered upon its immortality."
My literary friend, Robert Penn Warren,
understands "The War."

Many happy days have been spent with
Lewis "American by birth, Southen
by the grace of God" Grizzard.
I miss you, Lewis.

More Southern friends will be coming in for a visit,
so you'all come back now, you here?
