Ugh...one of these days, maybe I'll get all the paperwork finally finished for this semester. I felt I had accomplished just that for one day, then I get a letter from college saying I had still more paperwork that hadn't been done. They go on to say "if it isn't done by the nineteenth, you'll be dropped from your classes."
Good god, at this rate, I'll be twenty years in the grave before all that damn paperwork is done.
Yes, we went to see the Bell Witch movie this past Sunday. Well...the jury is still out on it, other than to say it was a bit slow and they did take some liberties with the story. Part of my problem with it is the fact I had been by the website and none of the stuff there was in the movie. I wanted to see how they treated the feud between Kate Batts and John Bell but none of that was ever mentioned. I came home and watched The Others in this dark house.
When I watched K-PAX the other day, it reminded me of some folks I used to chat with every now and then. I used to be a member of a website called the Wanderer Community (it had also been called Alienation at one point as well as the insipid "Open2Love" before it disappeared into the WWWasteland. I wanted to make sure I had insulin handy whenever I typed the address there at the last) and there were some genuinely interesting folks there. They held all kinds of beliefs - some had memories of being Otherkin or believed they were Otherkin souls in a human body (Otherkin: elven, faery, dragon, etc.) Some believed they were extraterrestrial in nature or walk-ins (souls who literally "walked into" or took over a body, with the original soul's consent, when the original soul decided it could not take it's existence on earth any longer. This was usually after an extremely traumatic event or near death experience.) There were some Pagans, agnostics, and New Agers. There were also some folks who thought the whole thing was all B.S. but stayed anyway.
Prot reminded me a bit of one of the people who was a regular at Wanderer. He said he was an extraterrestrial soul in a human body. He was also in regular contact with ships, who would "download" things into his mind as he slept. He had some interesting theories about how religion and other bits of civilization came about. There was one story about how in the old days, Anubus was actually one of his extraterrestrial people and the whole Egyptian religion was started because of a prank Anubus played...
In any case, chats on the Wanderer Community could be an interesting thing. You never knew what topic would come up next or what slant someone would put on it. I suppose you're wondering if I believe any of the stuff I've mentioned in this entry, hmm?
It doesn't matter. It doesn't change the fact there's some interesting folks out there.
