I would just like to say I have always been proud of my name and loved
having a then-unique name. I was named after great-grandfathers named Alexander
on opposite sides of the family. My parents were naming me after ancestors,
not being trendy.
Well, guess what! All the parents now have named their baby girls Alexis.
This
year in Alabama it was on the top 10 list as #7! JEEZ! Now it seems
I have lost my
unique name. It is "one of those common names". And I hate that! I
loved going to the store and not finding my name on those little mass-produced
pens and pads and gadgets. Now, I can bet it will be there. And worse.
In an attempt to make their children more unique, parents misspell many
names (especially common names) on purpose. (examples with my name: Elexys,
Alexus, Alexys) If you have done this, I understand your wishing to have
a unique name for your darling. I do!!! But PLEASE do not misspell names
on purpose. See this fun site: Hong Kong Monikers: Can
you spell that please?
Please see my page on other names to name your
child besides Alexis. Make names such as, oh, I donno, my sister's
name (Aleta) common. Please?
