Shattered Locks

When everything else falls away,

she is left with only the core

of her slave heart;

the place she has

struggled to understand, to unwind,

unbind the silken cords.

she was under lock and key of

visions of who she should be.

But with locks  of love shattered, the

bindings fall away.

When she tasted freedom,

and found it bitter, empty,

the air a graceful pale she

has no taste for, the scent

beyond her comprehension;

she burned her hands, in reaching

for the chains, frozen cold in time.

safe bondage lost,

adrift, she fell, too.
