Carry me through Luke 5:17 Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the Power of the Lord was present to heal them. Then behold men brought on a bed a man who was paralized, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. When He saw their faith, He said to him, “man your sins are forgiven you.” And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them , “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? Which is easier to say, Your sins are forgiven you? or to say Rise up and walk? But that you may know the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” He said to the man that was paralized, “I say to you arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he arose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And they were all amazed and they glorified God and were filled with fear saying, “We have seen strange things today.” Thank God for friends! Proverbs 17:17 tells us that a friend loves at all times. There are times when we don't even love ourselves. That is when we need the faith of our friends the most. When we are down we need our friends to bring us before Jesus. When these friends saw that the place was crowded, they could have said “O we believe that Jesus can heal you, but it is so packed we cant get through... James 2:20 “But do you want to know, A foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” Human nature has a hard time breaking through to the works of faith. We can say we believe but, don't expect us to do anything crazy. See I believe to get that courage to lift him through the roof, they had a deep burden for the man. This man was totally dependant on others. God gives us burdens so that we will pray for those who need to pray for, without getting “self”in there. Sometimes interceding means breaking that flesh and doing things we could never think of doing. Deroofing the place was absurd. That is why the Pharisees left saying “we have seen strange things today.” Taking the roof off was risky! They could fall, he could fall...but they didn't. When Jesus see’s you going out on a limb to help someone, He will keep you both from falling..He will help you regain your footing. Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.” The friends placed this man before Jesus, that is what we should be doing when a friend is in need of help. Placing them before other friends doesn't help, place them in front of the healer! When you place your friend in front of Jesus the first thing he will want to do is heal their soul. , because healing the body is temporary, but the soul is forever. Jesus saw “their” faith, the friends faith, and He said to the cripple, Your sins are forgiven you. That tells me that our faith allows us to bring our friends before the Lord, and He will equip them with saving grace, once they are saved, He will heal them. Spiritually, Physically, Emotionally. Also, as the Pharisees reasoned, After our healing, Others may tell us that it is unlikely to get healed, and even if we do get healed, “it wasn't God.” They didn't believe that Jesus was God. Think for a minute what would have happened if these friends would have given up when they saw the crowd? When we are down we need our friends to bring us before Jesus...with their help we can walk again....
